I understand there's this constant issue of balancing dkp so that the net dkp gain is roughly that of the loss, so we don't run into a dkp inflation. I think (tell me if i'm wrong) that that is the reason that rot loot is no longer lootable for 0 dkp, and is destroyed. IMO it's not the best solution, but it does help fix the inflation issue, so I do recognise it's benefits.

The problem with the solution, is that sometimes loot drops thats a small upgrade, or only useful at certain times - an identical bracer with 20 more hp, or a 2hs for a ranger. The individual would slightly benefit from getting the item, and so the raid would slightly, slighty benefit from it too.

Sooooo, here's my suggestion for an easy quick fix that, I hope, pleases everyone! We do the same system as before, but with 'bonus' before rot: /rs tells for 5dkp.....3dkp.....1dkp.....apps/guests.....Bonus.....Rot.

Bonus will mean the item is available for 1dkp, but will NOT count towards the 1 loot per raid rule.

I hope this will please the dkp economists as it means more dkp will be spent, helping reduce the dkp floating in ah. Likewise it'll please those who don't like seeing items rot when there's people who want them.

What do you all think?

I like the idea.

I would not mind spending 1dkp towards minor upgrades provided that it did not count toward my 1 item per raid.

I'll put my two cents in and say, "I like it!!!" Great idea hope it makes it past the chopping block Very Happy What if we made it 5-3-1-Bonus 1 then Apps and guest. I know it sounds a little greedy but members should have first shot at loots before apps and guest. Just throwing that out. That way Members will always have the chance at loots even if it got to the bonus 1.

I think it sounds like a great idea too. Only problem I potentially see is it would add one more step to the loot process, and take a little bit longer to decide loots, but it would keep us from destroying something like that ranger sword from last night.

same number of steps they did lasst night but with a modification basicly.

was 5 >3 >1 > guest/app > 1 point already won an item (as opposed to not counting vs the 2 small difference but important the same) then guests /apps that won an item

It adds 2 steps....because as Kalakob said ....first members then apps on "bonus" rolls. Each takes about 2 to 3 mins.

Or maybe we can replace the regular 1 point with the bonus 1 point. If it makes it down that far, either people don't want it at all, or they are holding out because it is a minor upgrade and they don't want to waste 3-5 dkp on it or loose a chance at something better. Like many others, I'm sure, I have allowed items to rot that would have been a minor upgrade or maybe a "situational" piece of armor, because I was afraid of missing out on something that I REALLY needed. I think we can make this work without making the looting process overly cumbersome. Awesome idea.

I wouldn't mind spending some dkp on certain items that would other wise rot, but the 1 loot per night rule is what really prevents me from doing so.

I think PoTime in particular is where this comes into play the most since we simply get a large number of loots in such a short time. My proposed idea would be to allow people to win more than 1 item, but give priority to those who haven't won anything yet. ie: Person A is Tier 6 and wants to spend 5 dkp on Item X and hasn't won anything yet, Person B is Tier 11 and also wants to spend 5 dkp on Item X, but has already won something, Person A would win the loot.

Or we could extend the P1/2 idea a little more, like P3/4 loots will cost dkp, but wont count towards your 1 item per night.

We are discussing a no fuss easy to manage idea using your ideas. I will post it when it is finalized. Thanks for the ideas!

I'm glad this is being looked at. Rotting loot is one of my biggest pet peeves with the DKP system. I would rather see a twink or alt get an item for nothing than to see something rot. Granted I know that doesn't work well in a DKP system but this proposal does actually sound like a good thing that might work.

Glad the idea's got so much interest! The main criticism i saw was the extra time it takes to sort out a fresh roll. My intention on it was that once Bonus is called, everyone who wants does a predetermined, flat out roll: /rand 1234. no fuss, just /rand 1234 the second bonus is called, and rolls end after exactly 30 seconds.

Since the Bonus isn't really a reflection of the player's presence in the raid - compared to bidding amounts of dkp - I don't think player tier should come into it.

One further consideration with the Bonus idea I didn't see anyone bring up, is what if someone's already had a bonus item on the raid? If we don't let these people loot again, then we're back at square one, and we'd need bonus bonuses, and bonus bonus super bonuses, and the whole thing would turn into a japanese game show. So I think the solution would be people can roll on as many bonuses as they want....though if you start winning everything, be nice and let others roll!

Good point Wwein, however I hardly think that people are going to start draining thier accumulated DKP on bonus/slight upgrades. As long as bonus items dont go for free, I say let who ever wants to burn their DKP on em do so.

Already had a proposal for this that should prevent a problem.....still in the "discussion" phase though.

command could refine this idea and then put it to a vote for the general population of AH. That way... if the body of AH doesn't like it then no one gets there toes stepped on.

Ok here is the decision based on the suggestions made:

Effective August 30:

After the guest/apps roll in loot handling and the item is still now awarded, there will be a "bonus" roll in which full members are allowed to participate. This will be worth 1 point, no raising and no tiers. You may only win ONE "bonus" item per night.

And if you loot a "bonus" item it will not count as winning an item for the night, correct?

If there's a chance for redecission, I would question the part about limiting rot loot to one per night. The spirit of this amendment is to keep stuff (albiet a minor upgrade) from rotting. Couldn't it be something like /ran 1000 if you haven't gotten rot loot yet, and /ran 500 if you've gotten rot loot that night. I'd rather give the stuff to a lootwhore (who's still paying hard earned dkp for it) than leave it for the rotwhore.

Sorry...It is limited to a single bonus win per night.
